Pyrite, famously nicknamed fool's gold, is an iron sulphide mineral prized for its dazzling lustre and pale brass-yellow colour. These come from Spain, home to some of the finest and most perfectly formed pyrite specimens in the world, and that cubic shape is simply the mineral's internal atomic arrangement expressing itself on the outside.
