Lemurian Quartz takes its name from Lemuria, a proposed lost continent first suggested in the nineteenth century to explain the distribution of certain animals before modern plate tectonics was understood. That scientific hypothesis was later superseded, but Lemuria found a new life in spiritual traditions as an ancient civilisation associated with wisdom, compassion and a deep connection to the Earth. There is no established archaeological evidence for this civilisation; its connection with these crystals belongs to spiritual belief and legend.
