Carnelian is a translucent to opaque variety of chalcedony, a cryptocrystalline quartz mineral. Depending on the mineral composition, carnelian can range in colour from red, orange, brown and pink to an intense almost-black coloration. It's name comes from a Latin word meaning "flesh."
Carnelian has been used throughout history both symbolically and as a semi-precious gemstone used in jewellery.
Carnelian is a powerful healing stone of transformation. It is considered to be grounding and stabilising and is used for wealth and wisdom.
